The Junior League of Fort Worth has committed a $15,000 grant to Partners Together For Health, the foundation for JPS Health Network, to provide low-income children with toys this holiday season. In addition, Junior League volunteers will spread cheer by providing hours of service during the busy holiday season. Elf ears not required.
"All I Want for Christmas" has become a tradition at JPS Health Network -- a time when our employees, volunteers and the community work together to provide thousands of children with a special toy for Christmas, something that many of these children often don’t see because of their financial circumstances.
Partners' grant will provide almost 3,000 children, primarily ages six to 12, with Christmas joy. JPS receives numerous donations for younger children, but often finds it more difficult to provide the older children with age-appropriate gifts. This funding will do just that.
Each year thousands of children line up to see Santa and receive a gift at John Peter Smith Hospital or one of the 12 largest JPS health centers. Volunteers, dressed as "Santa's Helpers," are everywhere making sure all are taken care of. Last year, volunteers also passed out toothbrushes and toothpaste in lieu of candy canes which the JPS tooth fairy appreciated.
Junior League volunteers will help in sorting the thousands of toys by age appropriateness, count toys and prepare toys for distribution to the various locations.
This collaboration joins an organization of women, committed to improving communities through charitable endeavors, with JPS Health Network for a meaningful and cheerful endeavor.
